11 years after release: fans miss dark action role-playing games gameandnews
If you are looking for dark action RPGs, you will probably quickly end up with The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt or Elden Ring. In the shadow of these colossal successes, however, a game appeared 11 years ago that hardly anyone remembers today: Dragon’s Dogma.

Dragon’s Dogma deserves more attention
Large worlds, dark monsters and a fast combat system – if you love this mixture, you will have great fun with Skyrim, The Witcher 3 or Elden Ring. However, if you already know all these games, he should try Dragon’s Dogma!
The action RPG is already a proud 11 years old, but is still impressive. This is especially true for the brisk combat systemas a new Reddit thread impressively proves:
The clip was accelerated artificially, still captures the RPG’s dynamic combat system well. Several users also responded to this in the comments:
“I love the combat system. Great story and progression. The footage was definitely sped up though.” (Reddit user Calligaster)
“Dragon’s Dogma is one of my favorite games and in my opinion it has some of the best magic gameplay I’ve seen.” (Reddit user Gildedwizard)
“I love Dragon’s Dogma. It’s a shame that other games dare to build big monsters into their game worlds and then don’t give you the possibility to mount them. I’m shocked this hasn’t been the standard since the game came out.” (Reddit user LevelStudent)
The last quote in particular addresses an important point! In Dragon’s Dogma, similar to Shadow of the Colossus, it is possible to to climb on gigantic monstersto defeat them in this way.
Just one of many reasons why the RPG 2012 went down so well with the press and the players – see Metacritic.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 is coming, but when?
Some time later appeared with Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen an improved version of the original. This version was received even better by fans, holding an impressive user score of 89 percent on Steam, for example.
Speaking of Steam, that’s where you get the game for a mere 4.79 euros. But you have to hurry!
Alternatively, you wait for Dragon’s Dogma 2. The sequel was officially announced in Summer 2022. Unfortunately, it has become very quiet about the successor since then.
So fans still have to be patient for quite a while or keep playing the first part.
