In the fall, fists will finally fly again when the third season of “Ranma 1/2” starts on Netflix. On the occasion of MAPPA’s 15th anniversary, the studio presented a brand new trailer that gets down to business.
Things were already changing at the end of the 80s and the beginning of the 90s „Ranma 1/2“based on the cult manga by Rumiko Takahashi, became a real hit. The joy was all the greater Netflix and the renowned animation studio MAPPA launched a modern remake of the anime series about the cursed martial artist Ranma Saotome.
And after the first two seasons laid a successful foundation for the new edition, the long-awaited third season is now in the starting blocks, which is expected for this fall. In order to shorten the waiting time a little, MAPPA has now delivered a brand new trailer on the occasion of its 15th anniversary.
Tough MAPPA action in the new trailer
Anyone who has followed the first two seasons of the new edition on Netflix knows the mix of brightly colored martial arts action, absurd slapstick and romantic love chaos. But in the coming episodes things get really tough – as the fresh footage makes clear.
The trailer already shows the first excerpts from the duel between Ranma and Ryoga, where the sparks are visibly flying. And animation studio MAPPA, which already works with action heavyweights like “Jujutsu Kaisen“ or „Chainsaw Man“ has made a name for itself, the optical quality has also increased significantly. The scenes shown appear significantly more detailed, the shades deeper and the tracking shots more dynamic than ever before.
But don’t worry: the comedy and emotional chaos are not neglected either. As usual, the love and fight square in the Tendo Dojo causes a lot of misunderstandings, because Akane, Shampoo, Mousse and Kuno are of course also involved again.
Ryoga’s Big Power-up: Legendary Technique and the Netflix Date for Season 3
In terms of content, the focus of the third season is clearly on Ryoga Hibiki. In one of the absolute highlights of the manga, Ranma’s rival undergoes extremely tough training with the lecherous great-grandmaster Happosai.
In order to avoid losing out in the fight against Ranma, he learns the legendary “Breaking Point” technique (Bakusai Tenketsu). With their help, he can cause even massive rocks to explode by specifically hitting pressure points. Accordingly, fans can look forward to one of the most spectacular duels in the series to date.
Further highlights from the 15th MAPPA anniversary:
And fortunately it won’t be too long until that happens: Netflix and MAPPA are staying true to their well-established publication rhythm, so that the official starting signal for the 3rd season of “Ranma 1/2” will be given on October 6, 2026.
Then the twelve new episodes will probably be broadcast on a weekly basis. Anyone who has missed the first two seasons and would like to catch up on the new edition of “Ranma 1/2” will of course also find it on Netflix.
