“Solo Leveling” will be continued – but not for now with season 3 of the well-known anime series. Instead, the powerful S-rank hunter Sung Jinwoo is initially drawn to the big screen with “Beyond the System”. A first concept teaser provides a foretaste.

The brilliant finale of the second season of „Solo Leveling“ It’s already been a while, but now it’s finally clear what will happen next for the South Korean mega-hit franchise. However, season 3 of the successful anime series is still a long time coming.

But fans can look forward to a full-length anime film, which has now been officially announced with a first concept teaser as part of the Crunchyroll Showcase at the Anime Expo 2026 in Los Angeles in the form of “Solo Leveling: Beyond the System”.

Jinwoo’s journey continues in the cinema

As those responsible have already confirmed, “Beyond the System” will seamlessly follow the epic events of the second season of “Solo Leveling” narratively. The title of the film already suggests that protagonist Sung Jinwoo delves deeper into the origins of his powers than ever before after the dramatic consequences of the Jeju Island Raid.

Fans can also look forward to an emotional and extremely dangerous return to the infamous Double Dungeon – and thus to the place where it all began in front of the eyes of the huge statue of the god.

Of course, the proven studio A-1 Pictures (“Sword Art Online”, “NieR: Automata Ver1.1a”) is returning for the production of “Beyond the System”, which has already proven with the first two seasons of the series that it is one of the absolute top animation studios. And since a movie traditionally has an even higher budget, the already crazy fight scenes on the big screen are likely to set new standards.

Records, gaming synergies and Season 3 prospects

The fact that “Solo Leveling” is now making the jump to the cinema seems to be the only logical next step. After all, the franchise is currently going from success to success. The first season of the series was named Anime of the Year at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2025, while it was the very first production to break the historic mark of one million user ratings on Crunchyroll.

“Beyond the System” is produced jointly by Crunchyroll, Aniplex, the webtoon publisher D&C Media and Kakao Piccoma. And what’s particularly exciting for gamers: The South Korean gaming giant Netmarble is also on board as an official co-producer.

Netmarble only delivered the action role-playing game in November of last year „Solo Leveling: Arise Overdrive“ which is currently only available for the PC. However, we are currently working feverishly towards the console release, which is scheduled to take place in the third quarter of 2026 for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

As far as the theatrical release of “Beyond the System” is concerned, a specific date is still pending. Meanwhile, fans who are hoping for a sequel in series format can rest assured: just a few weeks ago, the South Korean rights holder D&C Media announced that a third season of “Solo Leveling” was firmly planned.
