With the next cell phone from Carl Pei, the co-founder of OnePlus, his company work more closely with the chip manufacturer Qualcomm. A cooperation was announced a few days ago. As it turns out, the Nothing Phone (2) will actually have a better processor than its predecessor. Apparently, no one could agree on a real top model.
A senior Qualcomm executive revealed at Mobile World Congress 2023 that a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 will power the next Nothing smartphone. It’s a step up from the Snapdragon 778G+ built into the first Nothing phone. However, a real Android flagship should use the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2, which will probably be presented in May 2023.
Apparently, the choice of processor should be not yet be revealed. The Qualcomm manager then quickly revised his posting on LinkedIn and removed the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 (source: 91 Mobiles).
