A current job advertisement from CD Projekt RED provides fresh details about the mysterious brand “Project Hadar” – and lets fans of “The Witcher” and “Cyberpunk” makers breathe a sigh of relief.
CD Projekt RED currently has several hot irons in the fire: While Hexer fans are excited „The Witcher 4“ wait, is the successor of „Cyberpunk 2077“ already in pre-production. And the creative department of the Polish studio doesn’t remain idle either.
With „Project Hadar“ They are working on the first brand in the studio’s 20-year history that is not based on any known license, but is created 100 percent in-house.
And while tangible details have so far been kept strictly under wraps, a brand new job advertisement has now provided at least one crucial piece of information – and that should make many of the studio’s fans happy.
No experiments: The tried and tested CDPR formula remains
Anyone who feared that CD Projekt RED might have a smaller chance with its first completely own IP or drift into other genre areas can now breathe a sigh of relief.
The studio is currently looking for an engineering director for “Project Hadar,” according to Job description to help push the boundaries to “create an emotional open-world experience that stays with players.”
This means that one thing is certain: the studio remains exactly true to the genre that it represents with “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and “Cyberpunk 2077” has already been implemented excellently. Fans can once again prepare for a huge, freely exploreable world.
The word “emotional” is particularly exciting. In previous advertisements, the team was looking for Quest designers who had a passion for “narrative-driven and emotional design”.
This suggests that “Project Hadar” wants to focus even more drastically on the psychological and emotional connection to the characters and the game world than was already the case with Geralt or V.
Development still in an early phase
Apart from that, little is known about the mysterious project so far. The only thing that is certain is that a role-playing game awaits us, as CD Projekt RED confirmed in October 2022.
Job advertisements from last summer also suggest that it may be an action RPG. At that time, the studio was explicitly looking for staff with appropriate genre experience.

However, it will probably be a while before “Project Hadar” is officially revealed and we can expect concrete details. And this despite the fact that co-CEO Michał Nowakowski has already confirmed that the “creative foundation” of the new IP is rock solid and that the first playable prototypes are being intensively worked on.
The project is currently being managed by a mini-team of just 24 developers, which is why it is still in a very early phase.
In any case, CD Projekt RED’s current focus is entirely on “The Witcher 4”, followed by the “Cyberpunk 2077” successor. However, it will be interesting to see what the studio will ultimately present as the third major pillar of its own portfolio.
