ArenaNet announces “Guild Wars 3” for PC and, for the first time, PlayStation 5. A first beta test for the modern MMORPG has already been announced.
The announcement of “Guild Wars 3” makes the hearts of die-hard fans beat faster. ArenaNet is breaking with long-standing tradition and bringing the well-known series to the large home consoles for the first time. This news marks an important milestone for the MMORPG series as the title makes the jump from PC to PlayStation 5.
“Guild Wars 3 heralds a new era not only for ArenaNet and Guild Wars, but for MMORPGs as a whole,” said ArenaNet Studio Boss and Game Director Colin Johanson.
ArenaNet concrete: The MMORPG genre has millions of globally connected fans who crave modern gaming experiences. With “Guild Wars 3,” the developers aim to further develop the genre through a believable and innovative game world while valuing users’ time. A positive community is also said to be important.
A thousand years before the first part
The action takes place in the Orr region a thousand years before the original game. This vast wilderness is deeply imbued with the magic of the world and is inhabited by the so-called Vael spirits. Such natural creatures embody the life force of the lush landscape. Various guilds, however, fight for the valuable resources of this untouched border area.
The focus is on each player’s journey with their own Seeker, who acts as powerful mount serves. This creature acts as a direct link to the spirits of Orr and carries adventurers safely through the expansive open world. Because the Vael spirits vary in size and influence, the environment promises a dynamic experience in a vibrant environment.

Players take on the role of a Vaelwarden dedicated to protecting the nature spirits and the land. Known elements like extensive character customization and a in-depth skill system enable individual adventures. Participants build relationships with other Vaelwarden and the inhabitants of the world to brave dangers together in this colorful online experience.
The Combat system from “Guild Wars 3” relies on fluid movements and momentum that can be precisely controlled with both controller and keyboard. By cleverly changing positions, players convert their speed directly into higher damage values against their opponents.
