There are increasing indications of a new edition around “The Simpsons: Hit & Run”. An insider and journalist brought the action-adventure back into conversation. What’s behind it?
Many fans have been waiting for a return for years „Die Simpsons: Hit & Run“. As part of Summer Game Fest 2026, an insider hinted that something could actually be in the works at Activision.
The statement is liked in a sequence of „VGC: The Video Game Podcast“. There, Jordan Middler from VGC spoke about Activision’s game catalog. The reason was that Announcement of “Spyro: A Realm Beyond” at the Xbox Games Showcase. During the conversation, Middler came up with the publisher’s old licensed classics and how Xbox deals with these brands.
What everyone is eagerly waiting for…
“I think Activision’s next step – and this is a very important one – is to try to revive some of the licensed content, so develop new versions of these games,” said the journalist. Then he adds: “What everyone is eagerly waiting for is now becoming a reality.”
Middler did not give a name. Nevertheless, many people immediately think of “Hit & Run” because the game best fits the popular Activision licenses. At the end, Middler added an allusion: The crew would now “quickly get away” – in English: “hit and run”. It’s a play on words, possibly hinting at the title The Gamer.
Why a remake is conceivable
“The Simpsons: Hit & Run” came onto the market in 2003 and is still considered one of the best licensed games to this day. The open-world action-adventure is at the top of many people’s wish lists, even if the series itself has lost ground over the years.
In it, players explore the open world of Springfield, take control of various characters from the Simpson family and complete missions that tell a humorous story about a mysterious alien conspiracy.
Several points speak in favor of a new edition:
- The original developer Radical Entertainment identified itself as New Radical Games repositioned, which has sparked speculation about a return.
- The Simpsons showrunner recently confirmed that he wants a new “Hit & Run”.
- There has been talk in the community about a possible remake for months. The attention would therefore be there.
