Bungie shows goodwill regarding the misunderstanding with the Deluxe Edition of “Marathon”. The free trial version will also be extended for a few days.
Bungie actually wanted to release Season 2 „Marathon“ turn things around again on Tuesday. Players should be wooed with new content, a “PvP Lite” mode and a free test week. However Server problems spoiled the start of the new season.
There was also a misunderstanding with the deluxe edition of the game in the PlayStation Store. Bungie has now commented on the problem and is accommodating.
Deluxe upgrade does not include the main game at all
Together with the free week for “Marathon” and some discount promotions, an unfortunate situation arose in which players were unable to use the shooter could supposedly be purchased at a reasonable price. The Deluxe Edition was offered to some users for 14 euros in the PlayStation Store.
However, there was a system error behind it. Because downloading the test version led the PlayStation Store to believe that users already owned the main game. Therefore, these players were shown a discounted upgrade of 13.99 euros for the Deluxe Edition. However, this does not contain the main game.
Sony responded and placed a warning about this situation on the “Marathon” shop page. Now the developers at Bungie have also spoken out. They stated that players who purchased the deluxe upgrade before Sony posted the issue’s notice on the store page will receive the base version of the game at no additional cost. This applies in addition to the contents of the Deluxe Edition.
Free week goes a little longer
In the future, however, the price for the upgrade in the PlayStation Store will only include the additional content of the Deluxe Edition and not the base game. This affects users who downloaded “Marathon” during the free week but did not purchase it.
The free trial version of the Extraction Shooter will also be extended for a few more days. Actually, the “Open Play Week” was only supposed to mark the start of the second season of “Marathon”. will be offered from June 2nd to 9th.
Due to the server issues that accompanied the start of the new content and trial, the free game time will be extended until June 11th. Players who log in during the free week will also receive 50 SILK. “We understand that the downtime has disrupted not only your gaming sessions but also your plans, and we would like to compensate you for this inconvenience,” Bungie said on X.
