After “Minecraft Dungeons 2” was announced in mid-March, everything indicated that the final release date would be revealed on one of the big gaming stages – presumably the Summer Game Fest or the Xbox Games Showcase. But the Nintendo eShop got ahead of everyone.
When Mojang and Double Eleven came as a complete surprise last March „Minecraft Dungeons 2“ announced, the joy among the fans was huge. After all, after the final update of the first part, the franchise became quiet for years.
However, those responsible at the time failed to provide what was probably the most important detail: the specific release date. However, after the first age rating appeared recently, there were many indications that the publication date would probably be on Summer Game Fest or within the framework of Xbox Games Showcase should be announced.
But you don’t have to wait that long anymore: the release date for the sequel to the popular block dungeon crawler has already been set.
It starts in September – at a fair price
Like the well-known X account Wario64 discovered, the product page was apparently activated prematurely „Minecraft Dungeons 2“ im Nintendo eShop reveal the final release date.
Accordingly, Hack & Slay will appear on September 29, 2026. As is already known, the release will take place for almost all current platforms. In addition to the PC, the Xbox Series X/S and the PC5, Nintendo’s two Switch consoles are also served.
In addition, “Minecraft Dungeons 2” will also land on Xbox Game Pass on day one, so subscribers can jump straight into the adventure at no additional cost.
However, if you want to buy the game, you don’t have to dig too deep into your pockets: the eShop page lists a price of 29.99 US dollars, which could probably be converted into 29.99 euros in this country. Microsoft is staying true to itself and is also offering the second part of the spin-off in the mid-price segment.
A new threat is emerging
In addition to the release date and price, the eShop entry also provides the first details about the story of the sequel. So players can look forward to a much more ambitious adventure than in the successful debut from 2020.

Aside from the story, the sequel of course relies on the tried and tested principle: classic action RPG gameplay from an iso perspective, gripping boss fights and freedom of play. There are no rigid character classes – the play style is defined solely by the equipment and enchantments.
You can fight either alone or in exciting co-op mode for up to four players – locally on the couch or online via crossplay.
The first gameplay trailer for “Minecraft Dungeons 2”, which visually underlines the leak of the release date, should finally follow as part of the big showcases – either tonight or on Sunday.
