After a long period of radio silence, the extreme survival horror game “ILL” returned at yesterday’s State of Play with a brand new trailer, which not only provides insights into the story for the first time, but also finally narrows down the release period.
Has been in effect since the first announcement „ILL“ in the horror community as one of the most fascinating and hotly debated titles. The first images left many players amazed, but also skeptical: Is this really a real game or just a tech demo?
It is now clear: “ILL” is a real – and quite disturbing – survival horror adventure. This was also underlined by yesterday’s State of Play, during which a brand new trailer was presented. This made it clear for the first time that the title had a real story, while the release period was also fixed.
Grotesque mutations and pure survival horror
As the story trailer reveals, the plot of “ILL” unfolds in a massive research fort where a calamitous catastrophe has broken out. The result is the so-called “aberrations” (mutations) that you are confronted with – grotesque creatures with unpredictable behavior that deform and transform in real time before your eyes.
From then on, the development studio Team Clout remembers the old virtues of classic survival horror: resources are extremely rare and ammunition is an absolute luxury. That’s why, apart from the powerful and realistic gunplay, you also have to rely on improvised close combat.
The new trailer shows how you can tear pipes straight out of the walls or throw bricks to stun enemies. An advanced, physics-based dismemberment system also ensures that hits are almost painfully realistic and anatomically correct on the monsters.
The release period has been set: the horror is still a while away
However, a little patience is still required before you can face the creatures: As has now been officially confirmed, “ILL” is scheduled to be released in 2027. The horror game is in development for the PS5, Xbox Series X/S and the PC.

The developers are supported by Mundfish (“Atomic Heart”), who are overseeing the project under their new publishing label Mundfish Powerhouse. And Robert Bagratuni, CEO of Mundfish, promises nothing less than a genre revolution:
