Fans of “Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection” can look forward to more: The first story expansion is now available, which brings back a real franchise legend alongside Rudy. On top of that, a new free update provides fresh content for all endgame riders.
After the release last March, things have been a little quieter recently „Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection“ become. However, as part of the most recent Spotlight event, Capcom let the cat – or rather: the Felyne – out of the bag and announced the first story expansion for the role-playing game.
However, it wasn’t just a mere announcement: the developers delivered a real shadowdrop and made the extensive DLC available directly for download. The additional content is also accompanied by a free update that includes additional fresh content that experienced riders in particular will be happy about.
A paw-strong adventure with Rudy and Navirou
The first paid expansion for “Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection” has the somewhat unwieldy name “Additional Side Story: Rudy” and focuses on the young Felyne companion of the same name.
The story delves deep into the origins of the so-called “Royal Felynes” and promises a lot of lore about their ancestors. There is also a real highlight for all “Monster Hunter” veterans.
Over the course of the story, Rudy stumbles into a mysterious situation while mining for egg quartz and unexpectedly meets a real legend – namely Navirou. The iconic, donut-loving Felyne, who once saved the world, is making a comeback.
Meanwhile, anyone who owns the Deluxe or Premium Deluxe Edition of “Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection” can sit back and enjoy the new story content now and at no additional cost. The only requirement: half of the main game must already be completed.
Alternatively, “Additional Side Story: Rudy” can also be purchased separately in the PS Store for 9.99 euros.
Royal monsters storm the endgame
If you don’t want to spend any extra money, you won’t be left empty-handed. As already mentioned at the beginning, the story DLC is accompanied by a free content patch, which is intended to make hardcore players sweat in particular.
As soon as you have completed the game and loaded the finished game after the new update, a new difficulty level will be unlocked for the final boss fight. And whoever manages to master the furious finale on the “Hard” level will unleash the true new challenge in the open game world: the Royal Monsters.
These are extremely reinforced, tough boss variants of almost every creature in the game. From now on, the dreaded invasive monsters and disastrous elder dragons will also roam the areas in their royal form and tactically demand everything from their own Monstie teams.
If you haven’t yet immersed yourself in the world of “Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection”, Capcom is offering you a suitable incentive: To celebrate the release of the DLC, there is a 20 percent discount on all platforms. This is how the price drops – roughly im PS Store – to 55.99 euros.
The developers have also already given a glimpse of the future: the next free update is in the starting blocks for the end of August. Among other things, this should bring additional slots for saved games and expand the weapon skill slots from four to two slots to enable even more complex combos in combat.
“Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection” has been available since March 13, 2026 for the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2 and the PC.
