Galaxy S23 restores old power relations gameandnews
2022 ended with a punch in the stomach for Samsung. But today things are looking rosier again for the South Koreans. Responsible for this is the Galaxy S23, whose success has restored the old balance of power between Samsung and its closest competitor.
It is part of Samsung’s identity to be number 1. The electronics manufacturer leaves no doubt about that. The most recent defeat against Apple should have been all the more painful for Samsung. Driven by strong iPhone sales, the cult group was able to place itself ahead of Samsung in the fourth quarter of 2022 and secure the smartphone crown. The successful launch of the Galaxy S23 turns the tide again.
Thanks to the Galaxy S23: Samsung is number 1 among smartphone manufacturers again
According to market researchers at Counterpoint Research Samsung had a market share of 21.2 percent in February 2023. Compared to the previous month, this is a decent plus of 3.5 percent (via Business Korea). Apple, on the other hand, had to lose feathers. In February it was enough for 20.2 percent and thus 0.7 percent less than in January.
Xiaomi comes third with 11.5 percent, followed by Oppo with 8.9 percent and at the bottom of the top 5 is Vivo with 8.2 percent. Places three to five all go to smartphone manufacturers from China.
Global smartphone sales fell in February. In total, only around 90 million end devices were sold – a whopping 15 percent less than in the same period a year earlier.

In the end it was enough for them excellent rating of 8.4 out of 10 points. Above all, the display, the camera, the long update guarantee and the performance of the new Qualcomm processor were convincing. However, there were deductions for the slower memory in the 128 GB model and the higher price.
