The biggest wrestling event of the year is approaching with great strides. Wrestlemania 39 is coming up this weekend. Which matches have already been confirmed, when will the event be broadcast and how can you tune in to the WWE spectacle in the stream from Germany?
As in previous years, there will be twice the amount of Wrestlemania action in 2023. The Premium Live Event will be held over two days on Saturday April 1st and Sunday April 2nd. In 2023 the event will be held in Inglewood, California. It runs under the motto “Wrestlemania Goes Hollywood”. In Germany you can in the Wrestlemania live stream via the WWE Network switch on during transmission. A few weeks before Wrestlemania weekend, most of the matches for both nights are set.
updated: On the last Raw before Wrestlemania weekend, Finn Balor announced the return of his “Demon” gimmick. So Edge should wrap up warm, but he might have a surprise in store as well. Cody Rhodes inflicted his first loss on the main roster on Solo Sikoa. The women’s final two contestants for the Showcase Tag Team Match were Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville. Today is the last Smackdown before the big weekend. Among other things, the “Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal” is coming up, where many superstars who were not booked for the two Wrestlemania nights get into the ring – including Bobby Lashley. 2 days before the event, the daily division of the matches was also made official.

There are always rumors about an in-ring return of “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, but so far nothing is known about it. Vince McMahon could also show up, after all it looks very likely that it will be the last Wrestlemania before WWE is sold. Long injured Randy Orton is due to be flown in to Wrestlemania and could make a surprise appearance.
Wrestlemania 39: Watch the broadcast in Germany – when & where?
In Germany, Wrestlemania 39 runs on the night of Saturday, April 1, 2023 to Sunday, April 2 and from Sunday, April 2 to Monday, April 3. The start time is 2:00 a.m. At YouTube you can tune in to the free kick-off show one hour in advance. The WWE Network broadcast is available for viewing both live and replay.
Tip: If you want to get in the right mood on Wrestlemania Sunday, you can watch the German wrestling league GWF live. The next event in Berlin’s “Catchsaal” Kreuzberg is scheduled for April 2nd with Blockbuster.
The highlight of the weekend is the clash between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes. Reigns has now been a WWE title holder for over 900 days. It will be eagerly awaited to see if Royal Rumble winner and AEW returnee Cody Rhodes can defeat the Undisputed Champion or if Reigns completes the 1000 Days.
The two women’s titles are also at stake. Charlotte Flair faces off against women’s Rumble champion Rhea Ripley while Bianca Belair looks to defend her Raw title against Asuka. The midcard titles will also be on the matchcard, unlike previous PLEs. Gunther has a title to defend against Drew McIntyre and Sheamus.
Wrestlemania 39: The “Super Bowl” of wrestling at a glance
A long-awaited comeback from The Rock is almost impossible for this wrestlemania. But another legend returns to the ring in John Cena. The now also successful actor has to deal with Austin Theory and has the chance to secure the United States title in the match.
There will also be a reunion with the YouTube star Logan Paul, who has repeatedly caused a stir in the WWE ring, for example with his spectacular spot with Ricochet at the Royal Rumble match in January.
Wrestling fans can also look forward to Brock Lesnar. “The Beast” enters the ring against the chicken Omos. The match card is far from complete. A clash between Bobby Lashley and Bray Wyatt is also looming.
Bray Wyatt, meanwhile, has not been seen on WWE shows since February 17. He is said to be injured, but there are rumors of disagreements between the returnee and WWE. It is unknown if there are differences between Wyatt and WWE officials or if it is actually “just” an injury. Alexa Bliss, who was slated to play a role alongside Wyatt as before his earlier departure, has also not been seen in WWE since the Royal Rumble in January. Wyatt was originally scheduled to step into the ring against Bobby Lashley. Lashley is now only listed as a participant in the “Andre The Giant Memorial Battle-Royal” on SmackDown on the eve of Wrestlemania.
The official theme song is “Less Than Zero” by The Weeknd. You can listen to the song here:
Traditionally, “America The Beautiful” is performed at Wrestlemania. On Saturday the anthem will be sung by “Becky G”.
Wrestlemania 39: Hall of Fame – who gets in?
- Rey Mysterio (introduced by Konnan)
- The Great Muta (Introduced by Ric Flair)
- Stacy Keibler
- Andy Kaufman (posthumous, introduced by Jerry Lawler)
- Tim White (former referee, receives the “WWE Warrior Award”)
Before Wrestlemania, the Hall of Fame Ceremony will take place on Friday, March 31st. The WWE announces the first newcomer to the Hall of Fame Class 2023 relatively late. This is how Rey Mysterio will find his way into the Hall of Fame. The multiple champion is accompanied by former WCW companion Konnan. You can watch the announcement with some highlights from the highflyer’s career in the official trailer:
Next to Rey Mysterio will Keiji Muto, better known as “The Great Muta” inducted into the Hall of Fame. While Muta has never fought for WWE, he is one of the greatest legends in Japanese wrestling. Since the inception of the Hall of Fame, WWE has not been limited to Superstars who have only been active in their own company. In addition to Muta, Tatsumi Fujinami and Jushin Thunder Liger have also been included in the past. Great Muta was in the ring with WCW for a few years from 1989, but celebrated his greatest successes in his native Japan.
The celebrity place takes this year Andy Kaufman posthumously one. Kaufman is a comedian who rose to fame in the wrestling world in the 70’s and 80’s for stepping into the ring against women. He proclaimed himself the first “Inter-Gender Wrestling Champion of the World”. His women’s bouts resulted in a feud against WWE Legend Jerry “The King” Lawler in his own league, the Continental Wrestling Association in Memphis. Kaufman is one of the first celebrities to make their way from another realm to a wrestling ring.
Most recently, the introduction of Stacy Keibler confirmed. Keibler found success in WWE in the early 2000s. Aside from her in-ring appearances, she is best known as the manager of the Dudley Boyz, Scott Steiner, Test and The Hurricane (as “Super Stacy”).
Last year, The Undertaker, Vader, Queen Sharmell, and the Steiner Brothers Rick and Scott were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. The ceremony will be streamed live, as will Wrestlemania 39, over the WWE Network.
The late Referee Tim White will receive the Warrior Award this year. The referee died in June last year at the age of 68. More about the life of the referee legend you read at power wrestling.
